Why I Do This Work

My work in addiction recovery is more than a profession it is a purpose deeply connected to my life experiences, my education, and my commitment to helping others find hope.

Throughout my career in healthcare, I have had the privilege of caring for individuals during some of their most vulnerable moments. Beginning in 1999 as a Nurse specializing in Women’s Health and Cardiology, I saw firsthand how physical health, emotional pain, mental health struggles, and life circumstances can impact a person’s overall well-being. Those experiences helped me understand that healing requires more than treating symptoms; it requires compassion, understanding, and support for the whole person.

My passion for addiction treatment became even stronger after experiencing the devastating loss of my brother to addiction in 2021. Losing someone I loved gave me a deeper understanding of the impact addiction has not only on the individual struggling with substance use, but also on families, relationships, and communities. That loss strengthened my commitment to helping others understand addiction, seek support, and recognize that recovery is possible.

I do this work because I believe every person deserves to be seen beyond their addiction. A diagnosis, a mistake, or a difficult chapter in someone’s life does not define their worth. Behind every person struggling with addiction is a story, a history, a purpose, and the potential for change.

My mission is to provide individuals with the knowledge, tools, encouragement, and support needed to begin their healing journey. I believe that through compassion, accountability, education, and evidence-based treatment, individuals can rebuild their lives and discover a future they may not have believed was possible.

I also do this work for the families who are searching for answers, hoping for change, and carrying the weight of watching someone they love struggle. Addiction impacts everyone connected to it, and my goal is to help bring awareness, reduce stigma, and remind families that reaching out for help can be the beginning of transformation.

Every person who walks through the doors of recovery brings a unique story. My role is to help them recognize their strength, develop healthier ways of thinking, and understand that they are capable of creating a new path.

I do this work because I believe in hope. I believe in healing. I believe that recovery is possible and that one life saved can impact an entire family for generations to come.
